Departed
Book One of The Happy Spine Club Mysteries
One buried corpse. Two devoted chiropractors. Three squabbling friends. And a murder that hits too close to home.
A perfect day for Emma Hadwell starts with a detailed to-do list and ends with each item neatly crossed off. She loves life in the peaceful village of Fenton Lacey: her husband Sam, her baby, her chiropractic clinic.
Nothing disturbs her contentment until a long-buried corpse is discovered near her home. At first, the locals delight in speculation about the dead outsider. After all, gossiping is an Olympic sport in Fenton Lacey. But the mood darkens when the victim is found to be one of their own. Emma is shocked to learn of her close connection to the murder and vows to uncover the truth.
She and her friends soon uncover hidden secrets and lingering grudges behind the twitching net curtains. Not only must she keep her investigations secret from the police, but she must keep her bickering friends from coming to blows as they enthusiastically hunt for the killer.

Death ComesTo Lacey Hall
Book Two of The Happy Spine Club Mysteries
Summer has arrived in the secluded village of Fenton Lacey – and with it, another death.
Life is full for Emma Hadwell. Soon her maternity leave will end, but for now she’s busy juggling baby care, village gossip, and the gentle chaos of her three squabbling friends. When she’s unexpectedly called to ancient Lacey Hall to treat the cantankerous Lord de Lacey, she finds herself drawn into a mystery more twisted than a misaligned spine.
A shocking fatality during the estate’s annual deer cull is swiftly dismissed by the police as a tragic accident. Emma isn’t so sure. With tensions simmering and rumours spreading, she suspects someone planned the shooting.
As secrets surface and motives multiply, Emma and her enthusiastic band of sleuths find themselves up to their necks in suspects—each one hiding something darker than the woods surrounding the Hall.
Following the springtime intrigue of Dearly Departed, this second book in The Happy Spine Club series serves up hidden mysteries, village politics, gentle humour, lashings of hot tea, and a death that may not be what it seems. For lovers of clever cozy crime with a twist.
Praise for Dearly Departed
Superbly written, with an excellent plot and unexpected twists. I loved reading it. If you enjoy a murder mystery, while becoming part of the lives of the central and sub-characters, this is definitely one to read.
What a magnificent and enthralling story, and so beautifully told.
This fun “who dun it” caper is cozy mystery at its best! What a great start to a series.
